REINFORCING QUARTZ MESH APPLICATIONS FOR PROPHYLAXIS OF FRACTURES OF BASES OF LAMINAR REMOVABLE DENTURES FOR PATIENTS WITH PERFORATING DEFECTS OF THE PALATE
Abstract and keywords
Abstract (English):

In the surgical treatment of tumors, accompanied by resection of the upper jaw, sometimes the palate defects are formed, leading to the post of the mouth with the nasal cavity. Such defects are restored mostly with laminar removable dentures with a plastic basis. Clinical features (the quantity, topography and shape of the defect, as well as the amount and condition of the remaining teeth) and properties of acrylic plastic (lack of strength) lead to breakage of the basis, which negatively affects the functional viability of the prosthesis and significantly impairs the quality of life of `difficult-jaw` patients. On the example of clinical cases are noticed features and stages of dentures manufacturing in patients with a through defect of the palate. Authors of the study offered a method for strengthening the bases of dentures and solving the problem of frequent breakdowns through the use of a reinforcing quartz mesh. It is made the evaluation of results of the conducted orthopedic treatment.
