METHOD OF TREATING INFLAMMATORY PERIODONTAL DISEASES WITH UNDERLYING HYPERSENSITIVITY TO MODERN STRUCTURAL MATERIALS

Abstract (English):
Today, periodontology is one of the fastest progressing branches of dentistry. The emergence of new treatment methods makes it possible to increase the effectiveness of conservative treatment of patients with inflammatory periodontal diseases against the background of hypersensitivity to modern structural materials. Purpose of the study. To evaluate the effectiveness of photodynamic therapy in the treatment of inflammatory periodontal diseases against the background of hypersensitivity to modern structural materials. Materials and methods. The study included dental examination and treatment of 30 patients, average age 41.4, with orthopedic structures in the oral cavity, with a diagnosis of K05.30 Chronic periodontitis. Localized, 23 patients, average age 41.9, K05.11 Chronic gingivitis. Hyperplastic 7 patients, average age 39.3, who underwent photodynamic therapy. The control group consisted of 8 patients, average age 39.7, with orthopedic structures in the oral cavity, with a diagnosis of K05.30 Chronic periodontitis. Localized 5 patients, average age 39.2, K05.11 Chronic gingivitis. Hyperplastic 3 patients, average age 39.6, who did not use physiotherapeutic methods of treatment. Results. As a result of photodynamic therapy in patients of the study group with diagnoses K05.30 Chronic periodontitis. Localized, K05.11 Chronic gingivitis. Hyperplastic, periodontal indices significantly improved: the depth of periodontal pockets decreased to 4.1±0.1, false periodontal pockets are absent, PMA indices=21.4%±0.3, SBI according to Muhlemann and Son=1 degree CPITN=1±0.3, average number of affected sextants with bleeding=2±0.1. In the control group, photodynamic therapy was not used, periodontal indices improved slightly: periodontal pocket depth up to 4.9±0.1, false periodontal pockets 2±0.1, PMA indices=39.8%±0.2, SBI according to Muhlemann and Son=2 degree, CPITN=2±0.1, average number of affected sextants with bleeding=3±0.3. Conclusions. Photodynamic therapy is highly effective in the treatment of patients with inflammatory periodontal diseases with intolerance to modern structural materials, mainly acrylates, titanium alloys, zirconia and ceramics.
