Subject. Competent professional work of a dentist has always been highly valued, as it contributes not only to improved aesthetics, but also to the patient’s overall health. However, a review of the literature has shown that traumatic dental practice, irrational prosthetics, and substandard orthopedic constructions can disrupt the integrity of the periodontal complex, leading to chronic diseases — both local and systemic. It is necessary to conduct a detailed study of the etiology and pathogenesis of inflammatory conditions of the oral mucosa and periodontium, identify their causes, and develop a treatment protocol for patients. These issues negatively affect patients’ quality of life, daily activities, and general health status; therefore, the prevention and treatment of complications arising during orthopedic treatment require the implementation of modern approaches. Objective — to analyze literature data in order to determine the incidence of periodontal complex tissue complications during orthopedic treatment and to identify new methods for addressing these complications. Methodology. A search and analysis of publications in scientometric databases (eLIBRARY, PubMed, Google Scholar) were conducted on the prevalence of periodontal tissue complications at various stages of orthopedic treatment. Results. It is important to develop individual treatment plans and methods for each patient based on their clinical situation — this helps reduce the risk of trauma to periodontal tissues and the oral mucosa. Conclusions. Rational treatment planning and prosthetics are key to the successful placement of high quality orthopedic constructions and maintaining patient health. The development of adhesive substances that ensure high quality and safe treatment is a promising direction in practical dentistry: they provide a barrier function and prevent microorganisms from penetrating into the subgingival area.
