Relevance. Post-COVID-19 patients with mild chronic generalized periodontitis demonstrate significant oral symptoms affecting local immunity and microbiota. While the underlying mechanism is well-studied, its post-infection course remains poorly documented.
Description of a clinical case. The article presents extracts from the medical history of an 18-year-old patient after the novel coronavirus infection, who sought medical help with a diagnosis of "mild chronic generalized periodontitis associated with candidal stomatitis". The authors conducted a two-stage diagnostic protocol, determined and analyzed the results of detection and identification of microorganisms using classical microbiology methods and metagenomic analysis of the oral microbiome against the background of a previous coronavirus infection. Taxonomic profiling was performed using metagenomic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequencing data. A total of 117 phylotypes (at the genus level) were identified, distributed across 21 phyla, with detailed characterization of 34 dominant phylotypes.
Conclusion. The Candida inconspicua CBS 180T CBS (1.71 arb.units.) metagenome isolated as a result of evaluation characterizes the tendency to aggravation of the clinical picture of chronic generalized periodontitis of mild severity associated with candidal stomatitis in the presence of such a factor as mild COVID-19. It was determined that when drawing up individual programs for dental examination of individuals with the studied pathology, it is necessary to evaluate the criteria of periodontal status together with the detection and identification of Streptococcus, Fusobacterium, Corynebacterium, Actinomyces, Alloprevotella, Leptotrichia, Saccharimonadaceae, Talaromyces, Prevotella and Campylobacter.
